Watie Akins

As a Penobscot elder, Watie Akins has devoted himself to the research, collection, and learning of traditional music and instruments of the Abenaki people. His recordings have produced two CD's which have been shared with local schools and music teachers. As a resource supplement to these CD's, Mr. Akins will create a music book with transcriptions, which will also serve as a record of music that had been forgotten or lost.
