International Festival of Arts & Ideas

National Theatre of the United States of America is an ensemble company that works collaboratively to present American history through the stage. Their New England tour of Chautauqua! explores that idea in the style of a popular American lecture circuit from the 1800's known as the Circuit Chautauqua. At each tour location, the ensemble will draw upon the resident community, interspersing set elements with local lecturers and entertainers, to give each show a relevance and presence for New England audiences. To deepen this connection, partners have planned residencies that include historical map-making workshops, keynote speakers on local history, educational masterclasses with theater students, and local marching bands to participate in the final scene of Chautauqua!
