Bale Folclorico da Bahia is a Brazilian folk dance company featuring a 38-member troupe of dancers, musicians, and singers performing a repertory of dances of African origin. This tour will affirm the Afro-Brazilian culture of those with a distinctive Brazilian population in New England while providing a chance to engage other populations who are new to this type of folkloric dance. Audiences will be able to participate in capoeira workshops, dance or music masterclasses, and pre & post performance discussions with the company. In addition, the tour partners hosting school matinees will collaborate to develop study guides explaining the importance of the cultural elements of daily life for Bahians.
