NAMMY Award Winning Performer Jennifer Kreisberg Opens Indigenous Film
Festival on July 23rd in Charlestown, Rhode Island

On July 23-25, 2010 the first of its kind Indigenous Film Festival held in Rhode Island returns! Held initially in Newport in 2008, this year’s expanded 3-day long Indigenous Film Festival will be held at the National Park Service’s Kettle Pond Visitor’s Center at 50 Bend Road, Charlestown, RI.

Running Friday 6-9pm, Saturday Noon – 9pm and Sunday 1-5pm, the Indigenous Film Festival is hosted by the Native American nonprofits HOOP – Honoring Our Own Power and the Tomaquag Indian Memorial Museum.

Featuring:
NAMMY (Native American “GRAMMY” equivalent national award) Award winning artist Jennifer Kreisberg, member of the Women’s singing group Ulali.

First of their kind films created by Native American people in Rhode Island including
the short animation film “How Birds Got Their Song” by Nuweetooun School
students and animator Jo Dery, recently highlighted at the Providence Children’s
Film Festival.

Each day of the event features Indigenous film artists, musicians, storytellers, and
traditional dancers. Saturday spotlights the Narragansett People. The festival
includes traditional art vendors, traditional food vendors, and a book signing.
Other films representing contemporary American Indian perspectives will be shown
from Indigenous peoples from the Plains, Southwest and New England Regions over
the 3 Day event including: “When Your Hands Are Tied”, “Casino Indian”,
“Indigenous Invisibility”, and many others. See and join HOOP’s website at

Tickets are $25.00 per day for Adults (All Weekend Pass $60.00) and $15.00 per day
for Children under 12 (All Weekend Pass $30.00) and can be reserved by emailing
