NEFA is transitioning to an improved online grants system to better serve our applicants and grantees. Some benefits of the system’s redesign include:
- easier profile creation and maintenance
- the ability to view past NEFA applications and evaluations
- easy uploading of supplemental documents and photos
- a streamlined user interface
NEFA staff have been working to make the switch between systems as seamless as possible. As part of that transition, a period of system testing will take place from November 29, 2012, to January 3, 2013, in which no applications or evaluations data may be submitted. (The one exception is the NEST application form; the NEST deadline remains December 3.) Any forms that have not been submitted in the old grant system by November 28 (December 3 for NEST applications) will not be transferred to the new system.
To minimize the inconvenience to applicants and to ensure timely payment, we are asking that any open forms be completed and submitted by midnight eastern time on November 28 (December 3 for NEST applications). But don’t worry—with the exception of NEST, if you are unable to complete your application or evaluation by November 28, you’ll be able to start a new form in the new system once it is up and running in January. NEFA staff will also work with you if your evaluation due date falls in or around the time that our system is unavailable. Payments will be made in December only in exceptional cases.
