The New England Foundation for the Arts announced Monday it has launched CultureCount -- --a New England cultural database. The database provides a comprehensive and consistent economic data collection resource for New England's cultural nonprofits, businesses, and professionals. CultureCount is free public service and houses 22,856 active records and offers a
variety of search features and research tools.

The site, which will be constantly updated and expanded, supplements the federal data analyzed by NEFA in research reports on the creative sector. The information fits within the definition of the Creative Economy as outlined in the NEFA's recently released report "The Creative Economy: A New Definition". The Creative Economy is the third largest economic sector in Massachusetts.
