Creative City Community Partner grants are awarded by nomination only.

Creative City Community Partner grants are an evolving part of the Creative City pilot program. By making Creative City Community Partner grants available, NEFA hopes to better understand how additional funding may strengthens artist partnerships within the communities that he/she/they are working in.

Currently, Creative City Artist Grant Recipients have an opportunity to nominate a Boston-based community partner for a modest Community Partner grant for supporting the implementation, artistic process, and/or presentation of the artist’s project.

Depending on the nature of the project, community partners may vary in their relationship to the artist and the site of the project.  Examples of possible community partners include but is not limited to community development organizations, local non-profits or business owners, schools, among many other possibilities.

Eligibility

  • Community partner must be nominated by a current Creative City grantee within the first 6 months of the grant year.
  • Community partner must be based in Boston; preferably in the community where the project is sited.
  • Community partner must be an institution (i.e. organization, small business, school, etc.) rather than an individual.
  • Community partners must demonstrate support with the implementation, artistic process, and/or presentation of the artist’s project.

Ineligible community partners:

  • Creative City Community Partner grantees may not be the fiscal sponsor of the Creative City Artist grantee.
  • The community partner grant application may not be submitted by the Creative City Artist grantee on behalf of the community partner. (Note: the application is a two-step process. The artist submits the nomination form, then the community partner completes the grant application in the online portal.)

Funding Criteria

Community partners must support the artist and project with the implementation, artistic process, and/or presentation.

Depending on the nature of the project, community partners may vary in their relationship to the artist and the site of the project.
