NEFA offers three travel grant opportunities for cultural and nonprofit organizations to see work that they may be interested in presenting. Announcing National Theater Project Finalists

Each year, the National Theater Project (NTP) advisors meet in the spring to decide which projects will be invited to complete a final application for the NTP Creation and Touring Grant. The goal of the meeting is not only to choose the finalists but also to provide feedback for applicants who are not selected. The hope is that if unsuccessful applicants apply for funding in the next round, they will have a stronger proposal. The NTP advisors take the decision and feedback process very seriously; it's never easy to deny proposals, and, as the applications get better each year, the decisions get that much harder. The discussions are always lively and informative, and result in a very strong list of final applicants.Read more »

This year, the National Theater Project Creation & Touring annual deadline received 100 Preliminary Applications, its highest number of ever!  The review of the applications has begun, and from those 100, 24 will be asked to complete a final application. Beyond Orientalism: The Boston Forum

An unprecedented number of API (Asian Pacific Islander) theater artists gathered in November 2015 in response to the persistent practice of racial impersonation in American theater. From this conversation, a national initiative, Beyond Orientalism: The Forum, was launched to directly address the negative effects of yellowface and brownface in the American theater, while advocating for diverse representation of API – and all characters of color – on our stages.Read more »

Announcing the 2017 NTP Finalists

Since 2010, The National Theater Project (NTP) has supported 43 projects through convenings, networking, and grants. By far, the most significant grant offered by NTP is the Creation and Touring Grant. Each year, NTP awards six Creation and Touring grants, ranging from $80,000 to $130,000, providing funds for the development and national touring of new work. Creation and Touring grants also include an additional $10,000 to support the administration necessary to tour the project. It is a highly competitive grant process and involves a preliminary application and a final application.Read more »
