Dancemaker Survey - how should NDP evolve?

As the National Dance Project (NDP) approaches our 20th anniversary in the 2016-17 season, we are using this opportune moment to reflect on NDP’s impact over the years and to consider how NDP can best support artistic and presentation practices in the years to come. We are working with Metris Arts Consulting and RMC Research to evaluate the comprehensive impact of NDP on the dance landscape in the United States.

Abbe Museum Indian Market 2018

The inaugural Abbe Museum Indian Market 2018 has come and gone, and what an exhilarating ride it has been, getting to what I truly believe was one of the most creatively planned events in a small New England town.  Bar Harbor, Maine, or “Bah Hah Ba” as it is pronounced locally, is now in the minds of Native artists AND collectors alike.  The Abbe Museum very thoughtfully planned a beneficial experience for all who attended, and I am happy to say that I was a part of the launch of this exciting new market, which brought in over 5,000 visitors.Read more »


Announcing National Theater Project Finalists

Each year, the National Theater Project (NTP) advisors meet in the spring to decide which projects will be invited to complete a final application for the NTP Creation and Touring Grant. The goal of the meeting is not only to choose the finalists but also to provide feedback for applicants who are not selected. The hope is that if unsuccessful applicants apply for funding in the next round, they will have a stronger proposal. The NTP advisors take the decision and feedback process very seriously; it's never easy to deny proposals, and, as the applications get better each year, the decisions get that much harder. The discussions are always lively and informative, and result in a very strong list of final applicants.Read more »


Announcing National Dance Project Production Grant Finalists

The National Dance Project (NDP) recently convened NDP’s new panel of Advisors in Culver City, CA, to complete the first part of the Production Grant review. Production Grants provide essential funding for the creation and touring of 20 dance projects by artists and companies each year through a combination of funds including up to $45,000 to create a new work, $10,000 in unrestricted general operating support, and up to $35,000 in tour subsidies that go to U.S. organizations that tour the new work to their communities.Read more »


2018 NTP Advisors

This year, the National Theater Project Creation & Touring annual deadline received 100 Preliminary Applications, its highest number of ever!  The review of the applications has begun, and from those 100, 24 will be asked to complete a final application. 2018 National Dance Project Advisors

This year the National Dance Project (NDP) received its highest number of Preliminary Applications ever, with 148 applications from artists and companies in 28 states and three countries! Over a third of these applicants have never applied to NDP before, and 70% have not previously received an NDP Production Grant. Read more »
