For over 30 years, the Maine Arts Commission has been helping artists
and arts organizations bring more music, dance, poetry, painting and other
arts activities into the lives of the people of Maine. The agency works
to advance the arts by supplying services and results-oriented funding
to artists and arts organizations, and offering helpful resources about
the arts to the general public. It is an independent state agency funded
by the Maine State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
The Maine Arts Commission strives to give people of all ages the opportunity
to come in contact with the arts; build a support base for the arts; use
partnerships to expand audiences and develop new funding sources; and
further the cultural educational, and economic goals of the state of Maine.
