STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF FORMER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR REBECCA BLUNK

(Boston, MA) It is with great sadness that the New England Foundation for the Arts shares the news of the passing of Rebecca Blunk on June 22, 2014.  A tireless champion of the arts – ranging across public art, the visual arts, music, dance, theater, and puppetry - her steadfast presence was felt across the arts and culture landscape, through her work in performing arts creation and touring, the creative economy, Native American arts, and cultural exchange on an international scale. Throughout her career, Rebecca derived deep personal reward from the artists and administrators with whom she worked.

“Many of us now reflect on her recent retirement celebration with additional fondness. We will mourn her with the entire arts field, and send our heartfelt condolences to Marcie and her extensive circle of friends and family,” said NEFA board chair Larry Simpson. “Upon her stepping down from NEFA, Rebecca referred to NEFA as ‘the work of her life,’ and we are honored to continue her legacy through the programs NEFA offers.”
