Touring Grants

Touring grants provide funding for presenting high quality artists with innovative projects that exhibit strong collaboration between artists, presenters, and nonprofit organizations and that creatively bring the arts to communities and underserved populations in New England.

Expeditions Touring grant projects must include at least three New England nonprofit organizational partners in geographically separate communities from at least two states. Expeditions Touring grants provide up to 50% of artist fees (maximum $10,000 per partner). Artist fees may include the cost for multiple performances, residencies, and other contextual outreach activities, travel, accommodations, and per diem.

Each of the three or more touring partners must include public performances, and additional community engagement activities. Expeditions Touring grant projects must occur within the June 1-August 31 time frame following award notification.

Expeditions Touring applicants may act as a lead partner or presenting partner in a maximum of five (5) tours.  Each tour partner submits an individual application.

All partners are responsible for carefully reviewing the program goals and criteria.  This information should be considered when developing plans for community engagements and to prepare application materials in a complete and timely manner.

Projects will be assessed on the individual strength of each presenter partner application and the collective strength of the tour.

Each lead and presenting partner is responsible for the following:

  • negotiating with the artist or ensemble the terms of the engagement in its community;
  • creating and/or sharing contextualization materials with other presenter partners;
  • developing complementary activities with community partners; and
  • completing a Presenter Application for the proposed project.
