Touring Awards

NDP Touring Awards represent a reserve of $40,000 in funding to support the touring of an artist's or a dance company's project that is already in development and scheduled to tour in the season following the award. The reserved funds are made available to multiple presenters through Presentation Grants.

NDP Touring Awards are given automatically to Production Grant recipients; however, each year a number of artists and companies receive Touring Awards through a separate application process (below).

 Eligibility

• Choreographers, dance artists, or dance companies are eligible to apply; presenters, artist managers, and agents may also apply on behalf of an artist group or project.
• Choreographers, artists, or companies are NOT eligible to apply if they are currently receiving other NDP support (including FUSED) and have not yet completed the NDP-supported touring season.
   

Funding Criteria

Projects applying for NDP Touring Awards should:

• Be in an advanced stage of development and be ready for touring at the beginning of the funded season.
• Involve presentations of dance works of genuine imagination and originality by artists of recognized skill and accomplishment.
• Demonstrate that at least three U.S. presenters from at least two states will present the work on tour.
• Offer potential to engage audiences because of the presented works’ relevance, originality and/or timeliness, and the project’s use of live and virtual strategies to connect the artists and the public.
• Expand the aesthetic styles, geographic reach, and creative engagement strategies of projects funded by NDP Production Grants.

 

General Process & Deadline

• October 13, 2011: NDP Touring Award application deadline
• November 2011: NEFA announces NDP Touring Award recipients
• December 2011: NEFA publishes details of NDP Touring Awards.

4. Confirm that the applicant is listed with your username.*

5. Select the National Dance Project Tour Award Application 2012 form to begin.
