Sufi-rock bands from Lahore…a comedy trio from Karachi…master Haitian troubadours…puppetry and Hip Hop collectives from Yogyakarta…power-house contemporary dance companies from Port-au-Prince and Padang…Acclaimed at home but little-known to many Americans, performing artists from Pakistan, Haiti, and Indonesia will tour the U.S. through the Center StageSM program.
Center StageSM will bring 10 ensembles to cities and towns across the U.S. for month-long tours from June-December 2012. Tours include a range of community engagement activities, including performances, workshops, discussions, artist-to-artist exchanges, and community gatherings.

The Asian Cultural Council’s mission is to support international dialogue, understanding, and respect through cultural exchanges and to nurture the individual talents of artists and scholars in the United States and in Asia. The ACC holds firmly to this core mission while adapting to the ever-changing realities of its field and of the world in which we live.
The mission of the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art is to improve the quality of people's lives through the study, understanding and appreciation of Islamic arts and cultures. Center Stage is supported by the foundation’s Building Bridges Program, which promotes the use of arts and media to enhance American’s understanding of Muslim societies.
The objective of the Robert Sterling Clark Foundation’s international program is to promote global understanding through the arts. The Foundation has initial plans to support international engagement involving U.S. visual and performing arts organizations and their counterparts primarily in Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.
