PearlDamour is an interdisciplinary performance-making company led by theatre artists Katie Pearl and Lisa D’Amour. Their work Ocean Filibuster is a groundbreaking, immersive theatrical experience juxtaposing performance, science, and climate justice. Using large-scale projection, songs, science, and stand-up, Ocean Filibuster explores the intimate, critical relationship between humans and the ocean. The work will be presented as part of the UtahPresents 2023-24 season at Kingsbury Hall on March 23, 2024. In addition to a public performance, there will be a student matinee for 7-12th grade students. Community engagement events, while still in planning stages, will include a collaboration with Save Our Great Salt Lake, a collective of community organizations working to save the Great Salt Lake, which has been in decline over several years of drought.
