Martha Redbone is an Afro-Indigenous artist whose “music chronicles the crossroads of the American experience." -NPR. With longtime collaborator, Grammy award-winning musician/composer/writer Aaron Whitby, Redbone created Bone Hill: The Concert, bringing to life her family story, the legacy of her Eastern Woodlands people and stories of the land on which we stand. The NTP Transition grant will fund the recording of the songs from Bone Hill: The Concert with their 8-member touring ensemble. These songs are a celebration of the ongoing resilience of Indigenous peoples, our voices heard, and trace an historical timeline documenting the foundation and cultural evolution of American music.
