What We Ask of Flesh (WWAOF) is an immersive evening-length dance and installation work by choreographer Christal Brown. In this work, the artists’ bodies become instruments that question, connect, and dismantle the tangible and intangible histories present within a life. Originally inspired by the writings of poet Remica Bingham-Risher, the creation of this work includes vignettes of inspiration, the caregiver’s journey through Alzheimer’s and dementia, and a deep exploration of legacy. Seeing Flesh as the veil between the world and the soul, Brown and her company explore the tapestry between our internal and external realities.
