Meet the Composer/New England / Grant Instructions

Submit one signed copy of the Meet the Composer/New England Application Form. A separate application form must be submitted for each composer for whom funding is sought. Application form is available online as an interactive pdf. Click here to download.
Attach a project description of no more than two pages that answers the following questions:
What is the artistic and/or cultural significance of having this composer in your community?
Who is the audience to be served and what work has been done to increase and/or diversify community participation?
What contextual, educational, or adjunct activities are planned with the composer around this project?
What are your promotional and marketing plans to extend the reach of this project?
If this is your first time applying to NEFA please include a brief paragraph about the arts presenting activities of your organization.
Submit a photocopy of the signed contract or letter of agreement between your organization and the composer with the application. Grant requests will be processed without letters of agreement or the signed contract, but grant funds will not be disbursed prior to the receipt of a copy of this document.
Include a one page resume or biography of the composer for whom funding is being requested. This must include the composer’s training and a list of pieces composed along with the artist or ensemble that performed the piece.
Be certain to make a photocopy of your application for your files.
Mail program application form, narrative and contract. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. NEFA is not responsible for applications lost in transit. NEFA will not accept proposals transmitted by fax machine.
Note: NEFA is participating in a national effort to increase public arts agencies' accountability to the legislators and Congress which appropriate the funds given to you as grant awards. For this reason, the grant application forms require you to provide:
• Your U.S. Congressional district number (federal level)
NEFA cannot process applications that do not provide accurate legislative information.
IMPORTANT NOTE If awarded, grant funds are released on a reimbursement basis after
appropriate documentation (including contract copies or other receipt-related
paperwork) is submitted.
