AMD TOURING GRANTS
Receipt Deadline for Letters of Intent and Tour Grids: February 6, 2009
Receipt Deadline for Presenter Applications: April 1, 2009

AMD Touring Grants support the distribution and presentation (touring) of AMD-funded projects. Performing arts presenters may receive fee subsidy grants for the presentation of any of the season's AMD-supported touring projects, which are listed in the pdf 2008 AMD Grant Guidelines [661k].

AMD Touring Grants are paid directly to performing arts presenters to cover a percentage (up to 30%) of the artistic fee. Performing arts presenters interested in presenting a program from the listed works on pages 2-8 of the pdf 2008 AMD Grant Guidelines [661k] are eligible to apply for AMD Touring Grants.

Eligibility

  • U.S. Performing arts presenters with nonprofit status are eligible to apply for AMD Touring Grants
  • AMD Touring Grants are awarded for the presentation of AMD-funded projects
  • Engagements must include at least one public performance, and tours must include at least three presenters
  • There is no limit to the number of AMD Touring Grants a presenter may receive
  • A United States tour of the project must occur in the season for which Touring support is awarded, which is June 1, 2009 - August 31, 2010)

Process/How to Apply
The Touring Grant process occurs in two stages:

In the first stage, applicants must complete and submit AMD Tour Grids and Letters of Intent by February 6, 2009 (receipt deadline).

To apply:

  1. Presenters must review the list of AMD-funded projects listed on pages 2-8 of the pdf 2008 AMD Grant Guidelines [661k]. These projects have met AMD Reconstruction criteria and have advanced through AMD's competitive, two-stage review process to receive reconstruction support. In selecting projects, AMD also considers scale, geography, and the representation of diverse ethnicities and artistic forms.
  2. Presenters interested in booking any of these AMD-funded projects for the 2009-2010 season (June 1, 2009 - August 31, 2010) should begin by contacting the project Tour Coordinators to arrange agreements.
  3. Presenters must submit a signed Letter of Intent to the Tour Coordinator for each project they will present, which the Tour Coordinator must send to NEFA. This letter must state the negotiated engagement, and a brief description of the engagement.
  4. Letters of Intent should be typed on presenter letterhead, and signed by both the presenter and the artist or their representative.

Letters of Intent should be sent directly to the project's Tour Coordinator.

It is the role of the project's Tour Coordinator to submit the project's full tour plan and copies of each Letter of Intent.

AMD Tour Grids and Letters of Intent must be received by NEFA by 5:00 P.M. EST, February 6, 2009. Late materials of those sent by fax or email will not be accepted.

After the tour planning grids are approved by AMD, official notification is sent to presenters on each tour.

In the second stage, presenters who receive official notification from NEFA must complete and submit the AMD Touring Grant Reserved Funding Application by April 1, 2009 (receipt deadline).

    To apply:

    1. Download the AMD Touring Grant Reserved Funding Application [739k]
    2. The form must be typed. You may type into the form (which is an interactive pdf) online and then print it out, or you may print out the form and fill it in using a typewriter. Handwritten forms will not be accepted.
    3. For the narrative, use a common font similar to the Times new Roman or Courier in a size no smaller than 11 point.
