Jennifer Kreisberg

Vocalist Jennifer Kreisberg will teach her apprentice, Alexandra Owens, how to create traditional and contemporary Eastern Native songs. With this knowledge, Alexandra will be able to create new songs for her own singing career, social songs for her community, and songs for language reclamation. This apprenticeship project will take place over the course of twelve months and will conclude with a co-performance at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center, the Mohegan Community Center, and/or the Eastern Pequot ceremonial grounds. The hope is that the Eastern Pequot community will benefit from having one of their own tribal youths revitalize and reclaim some of their traditions.
