Carol Dana will work with three young tribal hunters to document the traditional process of tanning animal hides. She plans to photograph each step of the process as well as to incorporate the Penobscot language associated with hide tanning to create a DVD and webpage learning tool, which the Penobscot Nation Cultural and Historic Preservation Department has agreed to display on their departmental website. Carol feels that these tools will not only serve to preserve traditional art forms and language, but will encourage younger generations to become more involved in learning them.
