In this cross-generational apprenticeship project, potter Brenda will teach artist Venus Reels and her two daughters, Ty’Esha and Yolanda, advanced skills in pottery. Over several months they will all meet together at the master artist’s studio as well as travel to regional museums to research different styles of Native pottery. Brenda feels that this project is important as there is a need to retain the historic practice of teaching and to recreate old forms and develop new forms in an effort to preserve identity and support cultural continuity.
