International Commissioning and Touring Study

The International Commissioning and Touring Study, an initiative of the Rockefeller Foundation and NEFA, was developed to examine current systems for commissioning and touring contemporary international arts projects in the United States. This groundbreaking project, undertaken in cooperation with the International Presenters Forum, Arts International, and the Association of Performing Arts Presenters, identifies the full range of systemic functions required to support international work and makes recommendations for enhancing the field's current capacity.

A report of the study's findings, entitled Developing an Effective System for the Commissioning and Touring of International Work was completed in June 2000. The report outlines a number of key strategies for network development, distribution, contextualization, and resource development.
