The
Cambodian Artists Project is dedicated to the cultural preservation and
growth of traditional and contemporary Cambodian performing arts. NEFA
began to work with Cambodian American artists and their counterparts from
the Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh in the early
1990s, originally seeking to recapture traditional repertory of Cambodian
classical dance. Now over ten years, since
the project’s beginning, we have developed a formal program
to support Khmer artistic communities in the U.S. and Cambodia.
NEFA has established two related areas of activity for the Cambodian Artists
Project for the next five years: network development and grant making.
Major funding support for this program is provided by the Rockefeller
Foundation.
